VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of March 26, 2018.  

• 3/26—Participated in a conference call with DMAS and providers to discuss resolving and closing CCC nursing facilities claims issues.
• 3/26—Met with Bill Glass with Straightaway Health Careers to discuss their nurse aide program.
• 3/27—Participated in the CCC Plus Advisory Committee meeting.
• 3/27—Attended the AHCA Quality Improvement Committee by conference call.
• 3/27—Attended a political fundraiser for Gov. Ralph Northam.
• 3/27—Attended the Medical Aid-in-Dying (MAID) Work Group meeting.
• 3/27—Participated in the CMS Resident Classification System Version 1 webinar, An Overview and Preliminary Action Steps for NFP.
• 3/27—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims conference calls with Anthem and Virginia Premier.
• 3/28—Participated in a conference call hosted by the National Investment Center on skilled nursing data.
• 3/28—Participated in the AHCA Emergency Preparedness Committee call.
• 3/28— Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims conference calls with Magellan and United.
• 3/29—The VHCA PAC Golf Committee met by conference call to discuss plans for the June 12 tournament.
• 3/29—Met with Chief Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Health Dr. Hughes Melton to discuss quality and survey issues.
• 3/29—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims conference calls with Aetna and Optima.
