While the regular session of the 2018 General Assembly ends March 10, House and Senate leaders have announced they will not have an agreement on the budget by then.  The budget negotiators have yet to resolve the significant differences in state funding priorities resulting from different approaches to expanding Medicaid coverage. 

As of this writing, legislative leaders had not decided how to proceed on continuing their budget work. The House of Delegates and Senate have both called for a special session, which would be convened by Gov. Ralph Northam. 

VHCA-VCAL will continue to monitor developments on the budget and will provide the membership with updates as progress is made.  The Commonwealth has until June 30 before the current fiscal year ends to complete the budget.
