SMART Analysis of Survey Results through May 1 Now Available

IconNew analysis of 31 nursing center survey results from 2016 is available as part of VHCA’s SMART program.  Mary Chiles of Chiles Healthcare Consulting who manages the Survey Management and Analysis Resource Tool (SMART) for VHCA released a new report as part of her presentation at the May 11 Regulatory and Quality of Care Committees’ joint meeting.

This latest SMART report looks at the surveys received and entered into the SMART database as of May 1, 2016.  The reporting period includes 31 surveys; 27 were standard surveys and 15 of the 27 included complaint investigations.  According to the 2016 surveys:

  • The average number of deficiencies for standard only survey was 8.19
  • The average number of deficiencies for standard with complaint was 10.60

Analysis in the report includes information on the serious deficiencies cited in the surveys, as well as the top ten deficiencies sited across the data sample.  To read the full report, log-in to SMART and follow the links under “Reports”.
