November 12-18 marks Antibiotic Awareness Week 2018. The Virginia Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Advisory Group would like to emphasize the important role nurses play in carrying out antibiotic stewardship initiatives and is promoting efforts they can take to increase their antimicrobial stewardship education.

The HAI Advisory group is encouraging nurses to review the Redefining the Antibiotic Stewardship Team: Recommendations from the American Nurses Association/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Workgroup on the Role of Registered Nurses in Hospital Antibiotic Stewardship Practices whitepaper. After reviewing the whitepaper, nurses can take a quick survey. Facilities that have nurses complete the survey by November 15, 2018 will be recognized by the Virginia HAI Advisory Group during planned activities for Antibiotic Awareness Week.
