VHCA This Week

The Virginia Health Care Association’s (VHCA) advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job. While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. Take a look at our activities this week:

  • 11/16—Attended the Certificate of Public Need (COPN) Work Group meeting during which the work group discussed its recommendations for changes to the COPN process.
  • 11/17-18—Hosted education programs in Williamsburg and Roanoke on MDS Focused Surveys and Quality Measures. Associate member Judy Wilhide Brandt presented at both sessions.
  • 11/18—Attended the Commonwealth Coordinated Care (CCC) Advisory Committee meeting.
  • 11/18—Held a monthly meeting with representatives from Humana to discuss the CCC program.
  • 11/18—Met with Del. Keith Hodges (R-Middlesex County) and Del. Chris Stolle (R-Virginia Beach).
  • 11/19—The VHCA Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting and participated in a strategic planning retreat.
