VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of November 4, 2019.  

• 11/4—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus claims processing conference calls with Aetna and Virginia Premier.
• 11/5—Participated in the AHCA State Executives PDPM Support call.
• 11/5—Attended a political fundraiser hosted by AHCA for Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) in Washington, DC.
• 11/6—The Convention and Trade Show Committee met to review the 2019 event and begin planning for 2020.
• 11/6—Met with the Board of Nursing to continue discussions on the registered medication aide (RMA) training curriculum.
• 11/6—Attended an event hosted by Virginia Health Catalyst, formerly the Virginia Oral Health Coalition.
• 11/7—Participated in NCAL’s State Affiliate monthly call.
• 11/7—Attended the Virginia Oral Health Summit.
• 11/7—Attended the grand opening of the Innovage PACE in Richmond.
• 11/8—Chairman David Tucker and Keith Hare participated in a Healthcare Workforce Roundtable Discussion with Gov. Ralph Northam.
• 11/8—The Payment for Services Committee met to discuss Medicaid rebasing.
