VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of September 2, 2019.  

• 9/3—Met with staff from the Office of Licensure and Certification to review survey issues.
• 9/4—Attended the Joint Commission on Health Care meeting.
• 9/4—Met with Del. Patrick Hope (D-Arlington) to discuss VHCA-VCAL legislative priorities.
• 9/4—Attended political fundraisers for Sen. Chap Peterson (D-Fairfax) and Del. Tim Hugo (R-Fairfax).
• 9/5-6—Keith Hare attended the AHCA/NCAL Independent Owner Council meeting in Philadelphia.
• 9/5—Participated in the monthly NCAL call for state affiliate staff.
