New ALF Standards in Effect

New ALF Standards in Effect

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is continuing to work on developing technical assistance, Q&A documents, and forms to accompany the new Standards for Licensed Assisted Living Facilities that took effect on February 1, 2018.  As VCAL Director April Payne reported at the Legislative Conference, the agency is also working to standardize inspector training to bring consistency across the licensing regions.

DSS continues to request that you submit any questions using the dedicated email address, ALFREGS@dss.virginia.gov, if you have questions on the new regulations.

Questions will be addressed through a Q&A document issued by the agency.

As a reminder, DSS will not begin assessment for compliance until April 1, 2018.

Visit the VHCA-VCAL webpage Standards for Assisted Living Facilities (22VAC40-73) to have all the resources and tools you need to navigate the new regulations in one place.  If you need assistance logging on to the VHCA-VCAL website, please contact Kathy Robertson
