The Next Phase of the Quality Initiative for Assisted Living

The Next Phase of the Quality Initiative for Assisted Living

NCAL has announced the next phase of the Quality Initiative for Assisted Living with updated targets to the same four focus areas. For the next three years, the Quality Initiative for Assisted Living aims to continue enhancing communities’ organizational success and resident outcomes. The four main goals are:

  • Staff Stability: Reduce turnover among direct care staff to a rate of 50 percent or less
  • Customer Satisfaction: At least 90% of customers (residents and/or family members) are satisfied with their experience
  • Hospital Readmissions: Safely reduce hospital readmissions within 30 days of hospital discharges to a rate of 20 percent or less
  • Antipsychotics: Safely reduce the off-label use of antipsychotics to a rate of 15 percent or less

The Quality Initiative for Assisted Living aims to prepare providers for their growing role in the long term care continuum—to be able to partner with other health care providers by demonstrating low-cost, high quality care. All the goals work in tandem. If you retain staff, you’ll be in a better position to safely reduce readmissions and antipsychotic use. That in turn, can increase customer satisfaction.
