Fraudulent Communication Warning from Board of LTC Administrators

The Virginia Board of Long-Term Care Administrators has issued a notice that some licensees of the Department of Health Professions have received fraudulent communications from individuals claiming to be from regulatory authorities, such as the Board of Pharmacy, Board of Medicine, or the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The communications, be they by e-mail, fax, phone, or the US Postal Service, may threaten arrest, demand personal information, or require the payment of fines.

The Virginia Board of Long-Term Care Administrators will not send such communications.

If you believe you are the recipient of a fraudulent communication claiming to be from the Virginia Board of Long-Term Care Administrators, you should refuse the demand and contact the Board at (804) 367-4595 or ltc@dhp.virginia.gov.

You may also wish to report the communication to local law enforcement, the State Police, and the US Postal Service.

Information about reporting individuals purporting to be a DEA special agent is available online.
