Overview

This eight-week series focuses on essential lessons for long term care department heads that will drive facility operational success and interdepartmental team (IDT) integration. Proactive LTC Consulting’s Janine Lehman will address essential functions, quality care and department-specific management functions for department heads with sessions specific to administrators, DONs, housekeeping, social services, activities, dietary, maintenance and therapy.

  • Topics will include department-specific considerations for infection control, survey preparedness, role in meetings, IDT systems integration, MDS supportive documentation, care planning, driving QMs, employee satisfaction and customer service.

 

Who should attend?

This series is ideal for new or seasoned department heads with recordings available for ongoing access on-demand to these essential lessons on the building blocks of SNF/LTC operational success.

Session Descriptions

March 19 – Department Details for the DON: Discover specific action plans followed by successful DONs including a review of the daily, weekly, and monthly tasks thriving nurse leaders use to strengthen nursing department effectiveness.

March 26 – Strategies for Activities and Social Services: Drive department success through effective strategic planning, systems for key task achievement, and QA review processes for the Activities Director and Social Services Director with a focus on avoiding common deficiencies and impacting the quality of life of residents.

April 2 – Designs for Well-Rounded Dietary Departments: Explore specific aspects of leading the Dietary department with a focus on processes and methods of oversight to maintain survey readiness, food safety compliance and dining service excellence.

April 9 – Helpful Housekeeping and Maintenance: Key tips and strategies for Housekeeping and Maintenance Directors to implement effective management processes to comply with infection control and physical environment standards will be presented. QAPI monitoring systems will be emphasized with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy environment on a daily basis.

April 16 – Advanced Action Planning for Administrators: Tips for improving systems of oversight of day-to-day facility operations will be covered with an emphasis on following an intentional plan for survey readiness, care quality and team building.

April 23 – Conducting Meaningful Meetings: Discuss specifics for efficient and productive team meetings that will maximize effective communication while promoting team morale and collaboration for operational success.

April 30 – Department-Specific Survey Success: Review specific tips and strategies for staying survey ready throughout the year, and for following a schedule that will help to concentrate on survey focus areas and issues. Sample IDT survey-ready tools will be reviewed.

May 7 – Achieving Departmental Collaboration and Great Customer Service: Learn specific tips and strategies for promoting effective teamwork and collaboration and boosting team morale while avoiding common traps that interfere with team success. Approaches to foster successful customer service and communication will also be covered.
