Advocacy is a year-round job.

• There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
• The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of October 23, 2023.  

• 10/23—Participated in the biweekly AHCA/NCAL call for state affiliate staff.
• 10/23–Participated in a meeting hosted by DMAS on the Nursing Facility Value-Based Purchasing Program.
• 10/24-26—Keith Hare attended the American Society of Health Care Administration Executives (ASHCAE) Planning Retreat.
• 10/25—Hosted a webinar on hurricane preparedness planning as part of the Virginia Long-Term Care Infrastructure Pilot Project grant.
• 10/26—Attended the monthly AHCA Reimbursement Committee meeting.
• 10/26—VHCA-VCAL Convention & Trade Show committee met.
• 10/27—Met with staff from the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission to discuss issues related to behavioral health and nursing facilities.
