DMAS has informed VHCA-VCAL that the promised RUGs history/comparison reports are now available through their eDoc Management system for each nursing center.  To access your center’s report, select “Reports PBDMAS” in the file folder dropdown; then choose “Annual CMI Notification” as the document type; and specify “12/31/2016” as the fiscal period end date.

A report will provide several quarters of historical case mix index (CMI) data through the most recent available data and will be updated periodically as new data is available.  The reports shows case mix under the RUGs III-34 and under the RUGs IV-48 for the same population to allow for comparison between the two and also to track historical trends.  Keep in mind as you see the differences in case mix by grouper version that rates effective on July 1, 2017 are based on the RUGs IV-48 grouper.  In the aggregate, case mix is lower under the RUGs IV-48, so base rates are generally higher to account for that change.

DMAS noted that there are a few providers who will not see a report; these are primarily new facilities.  DMAS is still working to rectify this, but did not want to hold up the majority of the facility reports.  If you are having difficulty accessing your center’s report, please contact Sara Wood directly.
