VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.

• 5/4—Participated in a call on COVID-19 for AHCA/NCAL state affiliate staff.
• 5/4—Participated with the Virginia Healthcare Workforce Advisory Council-COVID-19 work group meeting.
• 5/5—VHCA-VCAL’s Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting.
• 5/4—Participated in the biweekly call on COVID-19 provider coordination hosted by VDH.
• 5/5—Participated in a call with Virginia community college representatives and workforce development leaders on LTC facility workforce needs.
• 5/5—Participated in the CDC webinar on the COVID-19 Module for LTCFs.

• 5/6-8—Participated in the regional hospital and long term care partnership calls with Russell Phillips and Associates.

• 5/5—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Aetna and Virginia Premier.
• 5/6—Participated in the VDH COVID-19 subcommittee on telehealth and phone triage.
• 5/7—Participated in the COVID-19 LTC Facility Task Force meeting.
• 5/7—Participated in the weekly nursing facility COVID-19 call hosted by DMAS.
• 5/7—Participated in the Testing Advisory Council call.
• 5/7—Participated in NCAL’s monthly call for state affiliates.
• 5/8—Participated in a conference call with the VHHA, LeadingAge Virginia, and VALA on COVID-19 coordination between long term care facilities and health systems.
• 5/8—Took part in the VDH medical workforce subcommittee meeting of the COVID-19 Healthcare Coordination Committee.
