VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.

• 6/8—Took part in the standing LTC Facilities Provider Coordination call with VDH and other stakeholders.
• 6/8—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s weekly legislative conference call for state affiliate staff.
• 6/8—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s weekly conference call for state affiliate staff on COVID-19.
• 6/9—Participated in a conference call with the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA), LeadingAge Virginia, and the Virginia Assisted Living Association (VALA) on COVID-19 coordination between long term care facilities and health systems.
• 6/9—Participated in the LTC biweekly COVID-19 hosted by DMAS.
• 6/9—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing call with Aetna.
• 6/9—Participated in the monthly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing call with  Virginia Premier.
• 6/9—Participated in the biweekly nursing facility COVID-19 call hosted by DMAS.
• 6/10—Participated in the DMAS Board of Directors meeting call.
• 6/10—Participated in the COVID-19 LTC Facilities Task Force meeting.
• 6/11—Participated int eh COVID-19 Testing Advisory Council meeting.
• 6/11—Participated in the monthly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Anthem and Optima.
• 6/11—Over 40 individuals participated in the first webinar in our COVID-19 Legal Webinar Series on employment law issues.
• 6/11—Participated in the weekly call hosted by AHCA/NCAL for public relations professionals.
• 6/12—Participated in the COVID-19 LTC Facilities Task Force’s care transitions work group meeting.
• 6/12—Hosted the weekly member call on COVID-19.
