Advocacy is a year-round job.

• There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
• The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of May 8, 2023.  

• 5/9—The VHCA-VCAL Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting.
• 5/10—Attended a meeting of the DMAS Brain Injury Services BIS Rate Development Workgroup
• 5/11—The VCAL Committee met to continue its review of the Standards for Assisted Living Facilities.
• 5/11—Met with DMAS for a monthly check in on the Medicaid Value-Based Purchasing Program.
• 5/11—Participated in the monthly meeting hosted by the Virginia Nurses Association on access to mental health services.
• 5/12—Met with leaders of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation.
