VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of July 29, 2019.  

• 7/29—Met with Virginia Premier to discuss ongoing CCC Plus issues.
• 7/30—Participated in a political fundraiser for Del Luke Torian (D-Prince William).
• 7/30—Participated in a conference call for AHCA’s Quality Improvement Committee.
• 7/30—Met with the Office of Licensure and Certification to discuss nursing facility survey issues and the life safety code inspection process.
• 7/30—Participated in the DMAS LTC Portal webinar.
• 7/30—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Virginia Premier and Anthem.
• 7/31—Participated in a political fundraiser for House Minority Leader Del. Mark Sickles (D-Fairfax).
• 731-8/2—Keith Hare attended the American Society of Health Care Administration Executives (ASHCAE) meeting in Ashville, NC.
• 8/1—The VHCA-VCAL Nurse Scholarship Committee met to evaluate the 2019 scholarship applications.
• 8/1—Attended the Virginia Board of Health’s Workforce Development Committee meeting.
• 8/1—Participated in NCAL’s State Affiliate monthly call.
• 8/1—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus claims processing conference calls with Aetna and Optima.
