VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.  Take a look at our activities this week:

• 8/23—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Matthew James (D-Portsmouth).
• 8/23—Participated in a work group meeting of the Joint Commission on Health Care’s study of the legal and regulatory requirements regarding life-prolonging care.
• 8/24—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond).
• 8/25—Took part in the CMS Skilled Nursing Facility/Long Term Care Open Door Forum.
• 8/25—Joined the Quality Network meeting hosted by AHCA.
• 8/26—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Scott Garrett (R-Lynchburg).
