VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.  Take a look at our activities this week:

• 4/11—Participated in the weekly AHCA/NCAL legislative conference call.
• 4/11-12—Keith Hare and Steve Ford attended the American Society of Health Care Administration Executives Spring Technical Session meeting in Washington, D.C.
• 4/13—The VHCA-VCAL Education Committee met to discuss programming for the second half of 2016.
• 4/13—Joined an AHCA/NCAL webinar on Understanding Long Term Care Payment Reform Proposals.
• 4/13—Attended a meeting of the Oral Health Coalition.
• 4/13—Participated in a webinar on Geriatric Mental Health.
• 4/14—Cynthia Ritter hosted VHCA-VCAL staff for a tour of Brandermill Woods.
• 4/15—Western District leaders met via conference call to set 2016 meeting dates.
