VHCA-VCAL This Week

VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of April 23, 2018.  

  • 4/23—Met with DMAS leaders to discuss CCC Plus and claims processing.
  • 4/24—Participated in the biweekly Anthem and Virginia Premier nursing facility claims conference calls.
  • 4/24—Met with Susan Elmore, Special Projects Coordinator at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) to discuss Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR).
  • 4/25—Participated in the No Wrong Door Resource Advisory Council stragetic planning session.
  • 4/25—Participated in the biweekly Magellan and United nursing facility claims conference calls.
  • 4/26—Participated in the biweekly Aetna and Optima nursing facility claims conference calls.
  • 4/26—Met with Kathy Creegan-Tedeschi, Director of the Division of Long Term Care in the Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC) to follow up on the Nursing Facility Advisory Committee’s (NFAC) action items related to the new long term care survey process, preadmission screenings, and transfer/discharge notice requirements.
  • 4/26—Attended the grand opening of Hanover Health & Rehab Center’s LifeWorks Rehab Gym.
