Virginia Congressional Members Call for LTC Funding

Four members of the Virginia Congressional delegation have asked US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar to distribute $25 billion in emergency relief to nursing facilities and assisted living facilities.

Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-VA-09), Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA-05), Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA-07), and Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-VA-10) asked that the funding be used so long term care facilities could hire critical staff and purchase necessary personal protective equipment.

The letter explains that the funding could come from the third stimulus bill, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed by Congress and approved by President Donald Trump.

VHCA-VCAL coordinated with the congressional offices to explain the need for this funding. In addition, VHCA-VCAL, in cooperation with LeadingAge Virginia, sent a similar letter to Sec. Azar.
