CDC Released New Resources on Enhanced Barrier Precautions
What’s new: The CDC has released new resources to assist nursing facility staff with understanding the benefits of and implementing Enhanced Barrier Precautions (EBPs).
- This new suite of resources will help staff, residents, and loved ones learn more about why EBPs are important and when these practices should be used.
Why it matters: Multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) are a known threat to nursing facility residents. These germs can cause serious infections that are often hard to treat.
- EBPs are infection prevention and control practices that can help reduce the spread of MDROs in nursing facilities and protect residents.
- EBP practices help address the silent spread of MDROs.
