This course offers 45-hours of hands-on, engaging training with advice and practical tips on how to design activities that support positive aging, build a sense of community, promote residents’ rights, and more.

Activities and More … Preparing Activity Professionals for the Future of Long Term Care
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Richmond – Midlothian
This program is designed for activity professionals who work in the following settings primarily serving persons 55 years and older: nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, sub-acute, specialized care, or adult day services.
Why Attend? This course meets all federal and state requirements for activity professionals in Virginia working in either nursing centers or assisted living facilities including:
- the Requirements of Participation for nursing facilities.
- the Standards for Licensed Assisted Living Facilities for Resident Care and Related Services (22 VAC 40- 73-520 Activity and recreational requirements (2)) and Safe, Secure Environment (22 VAC 40-73-1120 Activities. (F)(5)). In addition, the Virginia Department of Social Service’s Division of Licensing Programs has approved this course as a program in adult group activities and in recognizing and assessing the activity needs of residents.
- Attendees will also earn credit toward the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (NCCAP MEPAP) Part 1 certification requirements.
Registration includes all materials, continental breakfasts, and breaks. The registration deadline is February 10, 2020; after February 10, registrations are assessed a $25 late fee per facility.
