Advocacy is a year-round job.
- There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
- The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of January 22, 2024.
- 1/22—Met with Sen. Tara Durant (R-Fredericksburg) and Sen. Barbara Favola on VHCA-VCAL’s legislative priorities.
- 1/23—Met with Sen. David Sutterlein (R-Roanoke) and Sen Lashrecse Aird (D-Petersburg) on VHCA-VCAL’s legislative priorities.
- 1/22—Participated in the biweekly AHCA/NCAL call for state affiliate staff.
- 1/23—Monitored the House Health and Human Services Committee and the Senate Education and Health Committee’s health subcommittee meetings.
- 1/24—Hosted the VLIPP Emergency Preparedness and Response webinar on functional exercises.
- 1/24—Attended the biweekly AHCA/NCAL Constituency Council call.
- 1/25—Monitored the Senate Education and Health Committee meeting.
- 1/25—Met with leaders from the Hampton Veterans Administration office for an update on outstanding payment issues.
- 1/25—Attended the monthly AHCA Reimbursement Committee meeting.
- 1/26—Attended the APIC Virginia (Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology) board meeting.
