Staffing Bill Headed to House Floor Vote
What’s happening: VHCA-VCAL’s staffing bill, HB 1446 was unanimously endorsed by the House Appropriations Committee, setting up the bill for a vote by the entire House of Delegates in the coming days.
- SB 1339, the companion bill, is still awaiting a hearing in the health subcommittee of the Senate Education and Health Committee on January 30.
Help needed: Send a message to your Senator asking them to support SB 1339.

Of note: Del. Vivian Watts (D-Fairfax), who for numerous years has advocated for a higher staffing ratio than that in HB 1446, has signed on as a chief co-patron of the bill with Del. Bobby Orrock (R-Caroline).
- The bill has 21 additional co-sponsors.
