Advocacy is a year-round job.

• There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
• The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of January 2, 2023.  

• 1/3—Met with staff of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s legislative priorities.
• 1/3—Briefed staff members at Birmingham Green on the Medicaid Long Term Services and Supports Screening process.
• 1/3—Met with representatives of the VDH Office of Licensure and Certification and leaders from Eastern Healthcare Group.
• 1/4—Attended political fundraisers for Del. Phillip Scott (R-Fredericksburg) and Del. Mark Sickles (D-Fairfax).
• 1/4—Met with HQI to discuss COVID-19 vaccination rates in Virgina.
• 1/5—Participated in the monthly NCAL call for state affiliate staff.
• 1/5—Took part in the kick off meeting for AHCA/NCAL’s 2023 Professional Development Workgroups.
