Reminder: COVID Census Data Needed by January 8
Please provide updated census information through December 2020 to Steve Ford by January 8, 2021. This information will be used to support VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy efforts to obtain continued COVID-19 assistance and permanent payment reforms to address historic Medicaid underfunding.
We believe the census information members provided us in August (for dates through July) significantly supported our arguments related to Medicaid funding. To gather updated information, we are seeking the Total Days per month from a pre-COVID period (January or February 2020) and for each month thereafter through December. You may recall that the previous request asked for snapshots (not cumulative). Because of this change in the data requested, we need the resubmission of the pre-COVID and March through July data as Total Days, as opposed to snapshots. This spreadsheet has been set up to collect the data in the requested format.
Instructions for using the spreadsheet:
Please provide the end of month total Medicare, Medicaid and “Other” days census. Do not modify the provided fields.
The sheet is designed to capture all buildings for multi-facility companies on one sheet, distinguished by name and NPI.
- For Medicare and Medicaid: It should be one number per payer—FFS and all managed care combined. Medicaid Pending should be placed in Medicaid for this purpose.
- For “Other”: this is simply everything else combined.
- Please distinguish between outbreak facilities and non-outbreak facilities. An outbreak is defined as two or more cases (residents and/or staff). Highlight the month(s) in which a given facility was experiencing an outbreak. If the outbreak was present any time in the month, highlight that data. For example, if a facility had an outbreak in May that ended in June, the May and June data would be highlighted, while the other months would not be.
