VHCA-VCAL This Week
VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job. While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.
We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of July 10, 2017.
- 7/10—VHCA-VCAL hosted a CCC Plus Nursing Facility Claims Meeting.
- 7/10—Participated in a political fundraiser for Sen. Dick Saslaw (D-Fairfax County) and Del. Tim Hugo (R-Fairfax County).
- 7/10—Visited Carriage Hill Health and Rehab Center in Fredericksburg.
- 7/11—Participated in a political fundraiser for Sen. Rosalyn Dance (D-Petersburg).
- 7/12—Joined an AHCA/NCAL conference call to hear the latest updates on the efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
- 7/12—Participated in an AHCA/NCAL webinar on outreach on not-for-profit providers.
- 7/12—Met with staff from the Joint Commission on Health Care to discuss assisted living staffing issues.
- 7/13— Lori Sholes of Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab and Mark Kastan of The Colonnades hosted Del. Steve Landes (R-Augusta County) for facility tours.
- 7/13—Attended the DMAS CCC Plus Town Hall in Virginia Beach.
- 7/13—Over 140 attendees participated in the 2017 Payment & Financial Issues Conference in Richmond.
- 7/14—VHCA hosted a series of meetings for members and representatives of the CCC Plus Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) including Aetna, Anthem, Magellan, Optima, Virginia Premier, and United Healthcare.
- 7/14—Met with the Virginia State Police to discuss barrier crimes.
