VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of February 26, 2018.

• 2/26—Participated in the weekly AHCA/NCAL legislative conference call.
• 2/27—Participated in the biweekly Anthem and Virginia Premier nursing facility claims conference calls.
• 2/27—Participated in a webinar hosted by AHCA on CMS’ proposed Medicare payment for nursing centers, the Resident Classification System, Version 1 (RCS-1).
• 2/27—Met with DMAS staff members Tammy Whitlock, Director of the Division of Integrated Care & Behavioral Services and Jason Rachel, Manager of Integrated Care Programs.
• 2/28—Participated in the biweekly Magellan and United nursing facility claims conference calls.
• 2/28—Participated in the DMAS CCC Plus Provider conference call.
• 2/28—Attended McGuireWoods Consulting, LLC Legislative Reception.
• 3/1—Participated in the biweekly Aetna and Optima nursing facility claims conference calls.
• 3/1—Participated in the biweekly Anthem CCC Plus conference call.
• 3/1—Met with DMAS Directors Dr. Jennifer Lee to discuss a range of issues affecting members including CCC Plus, Medicaid rates, the forthcoming grant process for civil monetary penalties, and Medicaid eligibility processing.
