Advocacy is a year-round job.
- There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
- The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of May 27, 2024.
- 5/28—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Tara Durant (R-Fredericksburg).
- 5/29—Met with other healthcare stakeholders to discuss issues related to the medical malpractice cap.
- 5/29—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s biweekly call for constituency councils.
- 5/29—Hosted the final session of the 2024 VHCA-VCAL Business Academy.
- 5/29—Participated in a DMAS meeting on nursing facility Medicaid rate rebasing.
- 5/30—71 individuals participated in the Virginia Long Term Care Emergency Preparedness Symposium.
- 5/30—Attended a DMAS town hall on the rebasing of nursing facility rates.
- 5/30—Attended the AHCA Reimbursement Committee meeting and a meeting for state affiliate staff on PDPM.
- 5/31—Hosted a meeting of the Nursing Facility Advisory Council.
