VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of November 1, 2021.

• 11/1—Participated in the biweekly call for AHCA/NCAL state affiliate staff.
• 11/2—Participated in the monthly AHCA/NCAL meeting for state reimbursement specialists.
• 11/2—Attended an AHCA/NCAL webinar on forthcoming CDC funding for nursing home strike teams to help with clinical services.
• 11/4—Met with Sen. George Barker (D-Fairfax) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s priorities.
• 11/4—Participated in the monthly NCAL call for state affiliate staff.
• 11/5—Attended the AHCA/NCAL member webinar on the COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
