VHCA-VCAL This Week
VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job. While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.
We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of October 10.
- 10/11—Participated in a conference call hosted by Palmetto GBA for its Part A Provider Outreach & Education Advisory Group.
- 10/11—Met with Del. Bobby Orrock (R-Caroline), Del. Steve Landes (R-Augusta), and staff of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees on legislative and Medicaid budget issues.
- 10/12—Attended a meeting in Fairlawn hosted by the New River Valley Agency on Aging about the Medicaid Managed Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) program
- 10/12—Responded to a media inquiry from Virginia Lawyers Weekly about the ban on pre-dispute arbitration agreements in the CMS final rule on requirements of participation for nursing facilities.
- 10/13—Met with representatives of Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam to discuss VHCA-VCAL priorities.
- 10/13—Discussed Medicaid and budget issues with staff from the Department of Planning and Budget and the Health and Human Resources secretariat.
- 10/14—Covenant Woods hosted a meeting of the Geriatric Mental Health Partnership.
