House Votes to Delay Overtime Rules Six Months

dolBefore recessing until after Election Day, the House of Representatives voted to delay the implementation of the Department of Labor (DOL) overtime rule until June 1, 2017.  The rule is scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2016.  The Senate has not acted on the measure and President Barack Obama has signaled that he would veto the bill.

The DOL rule revises the overtime exemptions for executive, administrative, and professional employees and shifts the threshold for determining overtime pay.
