Preparing for Hurricane Matthew: DSS Guidance on Resident Relocation

hurricane_matthew-1475496509-8687The Department of Social Services (DSS) sent a notice to assisted living facilities (ALFs) encouraging preparation for possible severe weather from Hurricane Matthew, including guidance on what to do in the event residents must be relocated, or if you need to accept residents from another facility. Read the guidance here.

DSS recommends that providers review their emergency preparedness and response plans, and gather any needed supplies to sustain operations.   You should also remind your staff to have personal/family response plans to ensure their safety away from the workforce.

The exact path and severity of this storm is still unknown, therefore it is imperative that you stay informed by following your local news or a national weather news service.
