VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of September 10, 2018. 

• 9/10—The Health Planning Committee met at the VHCA-VCAL office.
• 9/10—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s weekly legislative conference call.
• 9/11—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Virginia Premier and Anthem.
• 9/11—Participated in the DMAS CCC Plus Care Coordination call.
• 9/12—Participated in a conference call with the Eastern Virginia Healthcare Coalition.
• 9/12—Hosted a webinar, VHASS How-To Demonstration.
• 9/12—Participated on the Healthcare and Public Health Sector 2018 Hurricane Response call.
• 9/12—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Magellan and United.
• 9/13—Participated in a political fundraiser for Del. Todd Gilbert (R-Shenandoah).
• 9/13—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Aetna and Optima.
• 9/14—Participated in a meeting with representatives from Collective Medical and ConnectVirginia to discuss Emergency Department Care Coordination (EDCC) in Virginia.
