VHCA-VCAL This Week
VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job. While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.
We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of September 21, 2020.
- 9/21—Participated in the CMS National Nursing Home stakeholder call.
- 9/21—Participated in a call on COVID-19 for AHCA/NCAL state affiliate staff.
- 9/22—Took part in the standing LTC Facilities Provider Coordination call with VDH and other stakeholders.
- 9/22—Participated in the COVID-19 Long Term Care Facility Testing Training work group.
- 9/22—Monitored the meeting of the Senate Education and Health Committee.
- 9/22—99 individuals attended the webinar, Understanding the Medicaid Application Process and Its Impact on Cash Flow, led by Adam Rothman and Mary Lynn Wright.
- 9/22—Participated in a conference call with the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, LeadingAge Virginia, and the Virginia Assisted Living Association (VALA) on COVID-19 coordination between long term care facilities and health systems.
- 9/24—Met with DMAS for discussion on SNF Part A Crossover PDPM Claims
- 9/24—Participated in the Virginia COVID-19 Testing Advisory Council meeting.
- 9/24—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Jen Kiggans (R-Virginia Beach).
- 9/24—Attended the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) Virginia Conference board meeting.
- 9/24—Participated in the VDH Partner COVID-19 call.
- 9/24—Participated in the meeting of the VDH work group examining nursing facility workforce issues.
