VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of February 6, 2017.   

• 2/7—Monitored the activity of the Senate Education and Health Committee’s Health Professions and Health subcommittees.
• 2/9—Participated in a webinar on the emergency preparedness regulations for nursing facilities.
• 2/9—Joined the monthly conference call with Humana to discuss CCC and claims processing.
• 2/9—Attended the meetings of the House Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee and the Senate Education and Health Committee.
• 2/10—Joined the monthly AHCA Quality Network call.
• 2/10—Monitored the Senate Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee meeting.
• 2/10—Met with the Senate Finance Committee staff to discuss the budget.
