VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of August 2, 2021.

• 8/2—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Jennifer Kiggans (R-Virginia Beach).
• 8/2—Participated in a virtual roundtable on COVID-19 issues hosted by Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07)
• 8/2—Monitored the House Appropriations Committee meeting.
• 8/3—Participated in the monthly meeting for AHCA/NCAL state reimbursement specialists.
• 8/3—Participated in an AHCA/NCAL Reimbursement Committee meeting on the Medicare payment rule.
• 8/5—Participated in the monthly DMAS call for nursing facility stakeholders.
• 8/6—Met with DMAS to discuss American Rescue Plan funding issues.
