VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of February 5, 2018.    

• 2/5—Participated in the weekly AHCA/NCAL legislative conference call.
• 2/6—Staff met with Susan Massart of the House of Appropriations Committee and Mike Tweedy of the Senate Finance Committee to discuss budget issues.
• 2/6—Participated in a webinar hosted by the National Investment Forum.
• 2/7—The Board of Directors met via conference call to review the draft 2018-2020 strategic plan.
• 2/7—Participated in the monthly virtual meeting of the AHCA State Affiliate Network.
• 2/7—Met with Mary Chiles, President of Chiles Healthcare Consulting, LLC, to discuss PASARR.
• 2/9—Alex Paley, COO of Orianna Health System, met with staff at the VHCA-VCAL office.
• 2/9—Met with DMAS officials to discuss ongoing CCC Plus implementation issues.
