VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of July 19, 2021.

• 7/19—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s biweekly conference call for state affiliate staff.
• 7/19—Met with leadership of the Virginia’s Community College to discuss workforce and legislative issues.
• 7/20—Participated in a VDH meeting on COVID-19 issues for LTC providers.
• 7/20—Participated in DMAS’s Medicaid Managed Care Advisory Committee.
• 7/20—Participated in a political fundraiser for US Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV).
• 7/21—Visited Canterbury Rehabilitation & Healthcare.
• 7/22—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s monthly call with state affiliates to discuss media and public relations resources.
• 7/22—Participated in a political fundraiser for Del. Chris Head (R-Roanoke).
• 7/23—Participated in the quarterly meeting of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) – Virginia.
• 7/23—Participated in the Working Interdisciplinary Networks of Guardianship Stakeholders (WINGS) meeting.
