VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of July 24, 2019.

• 6/24-25—Over 60 participants attended the training session in Richmond on the INTERACT Quality Improvement Program as part of our initiative to reduce preventable rehospitalizations.
• 6/24—Attended the General Assembly’s Joint Commission on Health Care meeting.
• 6/24—Briefed Cambridge Healthcare Management, LLC on discuss long term services and supports (LTSS)screenings.
• 6/24—Met with DMAS senior staff to provide them an overview of the memberships brief them on VHCA-VCAL advocacy priorities.
• 6/25—Participated in the Working Interdisciplinary Networks of Guardianship Stakeholders (WINGS) meeting.
• 6/25—Participated in a Studer Group virtual roundtable discussing strategies for driving quality and safety across the care continuum.
• 6/25—Attended the Virginia Health Care Foundation’s Heroes in Health Care event.
• 6/25—Met with DMAS to discuss LTSS screening issues.
• 6/25—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Rob Bell (R-Albemarle County).
• 6/26-27—Over 60 participants attended the training session in Williamsburg on the INTERACT Quality Improvement Program as part of our initiative to reduce preventable rehospitalizations.
• 6/26—Met with DMAS to discuss nursing facility crossover reimbursement after implementation of the Patient Driven Payment Model.
• 6/26-28—Attended a political fundraiser for the Virginia Joint Democratic Caucus.
• 6/27—Participated in a meeting of the AHCA/NCAL Independent Owners Council.
