VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.  Take a look at our activities this week:

• 5/9—Attended political fundraisers for Del. Steve Landes (R-Augusta) and Del. Chris Jones (R-Suffolk).
• 5/10—Matt Mansell gave a presentation to the Virginia Bar Association as part of its annual Health Law Legislative Update event.
• 5/11—Participated in the biweekly touchbase meeting with Anthem on the Commonwealth Coordinated Care program.
• 5/11—The Regulatory and Quality of Care Committees held a joint meeting.
• 5/12—Participated in a webinar on Care Transformation: Beyond Payment Model Redesign.
• 5/12—Joined a conference call hosted by the American Society of Health Care Administration Executives on the U.S. Department of Justice’s Elder Justice Task Force Initiative.
• 5/12—Lori Fletcher of Bay Lake Retirement Community hosted the Tidewater District meeting.
