CMS Posts New Training Resources on MDS/RAI and SNF QRP

New resources: CMS recently posted two new training modules that provide overviews of:  

  1. Chapter 2 of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI), and
  2. Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP), including its purpose, structure, and the SNF QRP Life Cycle.

 

  1. New MDS Education Resource for Assessment Types and Timing

 

Check out this web-based training that provides an overview of Chapter 2 of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI). The course reviews RAI requirements for OBRA and PPS assessments, including:  

    • Assessment types
    • Timing and scheduling requirements 
    • Discharge assessment determination 
    • Interrupted stay considerations 
    • And combined assessments

  1. SNF QRP Training on Annual Payment Update Compliance Essentials

 

Be sure to review web-based training that provides an overview of the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP), including its purpose, structure, and the SNF QRP Life Cycle.

    • It reviews required data collection and submission timelines, reporting requirements, data completion thresholds, and the Minimum Data Set (MDS) Data Validation Process. The course also addresses the Extraordinary Circumstances Exception (ECE) and the reconsideration request processes.
