VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of September 16, 2019.  

• 9/16—Attended the House Appropriations Committee meeting.
• 9/16—Met with Del. Lashrecse Aird (D-Petersburg) to discuss VHCA-VCAL priorities.
• 9/16—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Steve Newman (R-Lynchburg).
• 9/17—Met with officials from the Department of Health Professions.
• 9/17—Attended the Senate Finance Committee and Joint Subcommittee on Health and Human Resources Oversight meetings.
• 9/18—Participated in a meeting of the Geriatric Mental Health Partnership’s steering committee.
• 9/19—Participated in a meeting of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association’s Center for Healthcare Excellence Advisory Council.
• 9/19—Participated in the monthly ASHCAE call for AHCA/NCAL state executives.
• 9/19—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Karrie Delaney (D-Fairfax).
