VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of January 4, 2021.  

• 1/4—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s weekly conference call for state affiliate staff on COVID-19.
• 1/4—Participated in the VDH Vaccine Advisory Workgroup.
• 1/5—Participated in the monthly DMAS LTC COVID-19 call.
• 1/5—Participated in the VDH COVID-19 provider coordinate on call for long term care stakeholders.
• 1/4—Participated in the weekly check-in call with VDH and CVS on the progress of the LTC Pharmacy Partnership Program.
• 1/6—Participated in the monthly meeting for AHCA/NCAL state reimbursement specialists.
• 1/7—Participated in the biweekly COVID-19 Long Term Care Facility Task Force meeting.
• 1/7—Participated in the NCAL state affiliate staff monthly call.
• 1/7—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s bi-weekly call with state affiliates to discuss media and public relations resources.
• 1/8/—Participated in a subcommittee meeting for Working Interdisciplinary Networks of Guardianship Stakeholders (WINGS).
• 1/8—Participated in the VDH LTC Wellness Advisory Committee meeting.
