- There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
- The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of January 23, 2023.
- 1/23—Met with staff of the House Appropriations Committee to discuss HB 1446.
- 1/23—Participated in the biweekly AHCA/NCAL call for state affiliate staff.
- 1/23—Met with Sen. Bill DeSteph (R-Virginia Beach) to discuss his nursing home visitation legislation.
- 1/24—Monitored the meetings of the House Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee and the health subcommittee of the Senate Education and Health Committee.
- 1/24—Attended the Health and Human Resources subcommittee meeting of the House Appropriations Committee to speak in favor of HB 1446.
- 1/24—Attended the VDH LTC Advisory Group Call.
- 1/25-26—131 members attended the Legislative Conference in Richmond.
- 1/25—The VHCA-VCAL Board of Directors held its first quarterly meeting of 2023.
- 1/26—Monitored the Senate Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee meeting.
