VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job. While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. Take a look at our activities this week:

• 3/14—Participated in the weekly AHCA/NCAL legislative update conference call.
• 3/14—Attended the Virginia Health Information Board of Directors meeting.
• 3/14—Joined a webinar on the use of post-acute and complex services in a value-driven market.
• 3/15—Participated in the AHCA/NCAL Quality Committee meeting.
• 3/15—Met with representatives of Trusted Health Plan, the manager care organization for the District of Columbia.
• 3/16—Participated in the AHCA Affiliate Policy Task Force meeting.
• 3/16—Held a monthly check-in meeting with Humana.
• 3/17—Hosted a meeting of the Nursing Facilities Advisory Committee.
