VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of September 12.

• 9/11-14—Hosted the annual Convention and Trade Show at The Omni Homestead Resort.
• 9/13—Participated in the Virginia Department of Health’s Work Group on Electronic Monitoring meeting.
• 9/13—Met with Tara Davis-Ragland of the Virginia Department of Social Services.
• 9/13—Attended a political fundraiser for the Senate Democratic Caucus.
• 9/14—Participated in the CMS webcast on skilled nursing facility (SNF) quality reporting.
• 9/15—Hosted the quarterly Nursing Facility Advisory Committee (NFAC) meeting.
• 9/15—Participated in the monthly American Society of Health Care Administration Executives conference call hosted by AHCA.
• 9/15—Joined a CMS conference call on the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014 (IMPACT Act).
• 9/16—Held the first meeting of the new VCHA-VCAL Ad Hoc Committee for Alternative Payment Methodologies.
