Heritage Hall – Wise
Mrs. Jerilyn Henry Saltzman, 87 years old, was born in Andover, Virginia and raised in Jonesville. Wanting to see more of the world, she enlisted in the US Army (WAC) as a young teenager. Mrs. Saltzman completed her basic training in Georgia and was then stationed in the Asiatic Pacific for her entire tour of duty. Upon her discharge after almost two and a half years, she attained the rank of Sergeant. She had received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with three Battle Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, three Overseas Service Stars and a Good Conduct Medal.
Mrs. Saltzman’s husband, Herman, had also been stationed near the same location, however, they did not meet until both settled in Chicago, Illinois. Together they had four children, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Jerilyn Henry Saltzman is a resident of Heritage Hall – Wise where she has resided since November 2012.
