Bruce Hastings GriffinBruce Hastings Griffin, 63, grew up in Buckingham, Virginia where he developed a love of music, playing the guitar, and performing in a band.

Mr. Griffin married and had two children. He pursued a machinist/electrician career at Thomasville Furniture. He joined the housekeeping/maintenance staff at the center when it was known as Sentara Woodview. He credits that job as being “the most gratifying and enjoyable of my life” as he enjoyed doing little things to brighten residents’ day.

Following a health crisis, Mr. Griffin experienced a role reversal and is now a resident. Despite the challenge of no longer playing the guitar, he shares his love and knowledge of music by playing a variety of selections for resident meals and events. He was honored as an Activity Volunteer of the Year and inspires and encourages others to keep doing what they enjoy even if it means finding a new way to do it!
